2560th Birth Anniversary of Lord Buddha

The country is celebrating the 2560th Buddha Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the Gautam Buddha, tomorrow, paying immense respect to the epitome of peace and non-violence. The Buddha’s birthday known as the Buddha purnima is celebrated on the full moon day of Baisakh as per lunar calendar every year. A special ceremony is to held in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, tomorrow to mark the 2560th Buddha Purnima. President Bidya Devi Bhandari is gracing the ceremony as the Chief Guest.



Arrival of the guests both from the country and abroad began in Lumbini to attend the Buddha Jayanti celebrations being organized Saturday on the occasion of the 2560 th Buddha Jayanti (the birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha, the epitome of peace).  The Lumbini Day is being held in the birthplace of Budhha coinciding with the Buddha Jayanti which is also observed as the Buddha poornima. 

Followers of Buddhism, Vikkhus, nuns, Lama gurus and practitioners of Buddhism from China, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, the US, Australia,  Myanmar and Magnolia have  arrived here to observe the Buddha Jayanti celebrations.

As per the updates made available by the Lumbini Development Trust, guests from Bhutan, Russia, the United Nations and other countries are getting into the birthplace of Buddha who is honoured as the ‘Light of Asia’.
