Police on Monday detained a foreigner who was found to be actively taking part in the protest against Nepal’s constitution and the incumbent government, staged by the Federal Alliance, from outside Singha Darbar in the Capital according to THT.
The detainee reportedly claimed that he was a British citizen. He, however, had not carried his passport when he was taken in police custody.
Since the man told the authorities he had left his passport at his residence in Patan, they are looking into the matter, Rastriya Samachar Samitireported, quoting Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Ram Krishna Subedi.
Some foreigners were seen taking part in the protests against the new constitution and incumbent government yesterday as well as today.
Nepal’s immigration law, however, does not allow foreigners from taking part in the country’s domestic politics.
Meanwhile, two protesters were injured in a scuffle during the protest today, police said.
According to police, they used force to disperse the protesters after the latter pelted stones at them.
